The Race is On! Sign Up for the Discovery Trail Half Marathon!

Run a Half Marathon on the Discovery Trail through beautiful white sand dunes with refreshing ocean waves breaking nearby on Saturday, September 13!

This race offers eight age divisions, so everyone in the family can take part in this great event! There will be many prizes awarded and refreshments will be available at the finish line. The race starts at 9AM under the Arch on the Bolstad Beach Approach.

Know Your Personal Best!
The Discovery Trail Half Marathon is a certified and chip timed course. This enables you to accurately compare your time from other performance runs on other certified courses.

Register online here or register in person the Friday before the race from 5pm to 8pm or on race day between 7:00 and 8:30am at the Train Depot building located at 3rd Street NW and Pacific Hwy N– just north of Dennis Company.

Happy 116th Anniversary, North Head Lighthouse!

Celebrating 116 Years of Standing Watch over the Confluence

The Keepers of the North Head Lighthouse and Washington State Parks invite the public to celebrate the 116th anniversary of the North Head Lighthouse in Cape Disappointment State Park on Saturday, June 7, from 11AM to 3PM.

June 7-8 is a “Free Day” at all Washington State Parks – no Discover Pass required in honor of National Trails Day. Parking near the lighthouse is limited. Additional parking will be available at the parking lot adjacent to Cape Disappointment Campground Store, the home of Serious Pizza,  with a free shuttle service providing transportation to the lighthouse and back.

Come and enjoy refreshments, a self-guided tour of the Lighthouse Keepers home, live music from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, two bird sighting tours, museum exhibits, and even a gift shop. No Discovery Pass required!  Tours of the lighthouse are $2.50 for adults, with children ages 7-17 free. Children must be at least 7 years old to take the tour of the lighthouse. Flip flops are not permitted to be worn on tours of the Lighthouse.

In addition to the Washington State Parks Free Day, it is also a Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife Free Fishing Weekend! Head for your favorite angling spot, no license required!

The Saturday Market at the Port of Ilwaco is opening early this year for a special Clam Festival Market! Head to the Port from 10AM-4PM and stroll along the beautiful waterfront and shop ’til you drop! Don’t forget to check out the local shops, art galleries, and delicious dining options available at the beautiful Port of Ilwaco! Don’t worry, there is plenty of parking! April 19


Calling all “Voluntourists

Join the Grass Roots Garbage Gang on Saturday at 10:30 AM on all our major Peninsula beach approaches. Come out and help clean our 28 miles of beach. All are welcome and FREE chowder is included after volunteering! Treasure the beauty of our beaches and lend a hand in honor of Earth Day! April 19
