OTC – Deep Canyon Challenge

This year’s Oregon Tuna Classic – Deep Canyon Challenge will feature TWO FULL DAYS OF FISHING. Fishing begins at 7:30AM on Friday, August 1, with a required check-in time by 4:00PM. Friday night there will be a mandatory 7:00 PM Captains meeting at the Port of Ilwaco. Saturday starts early with a 6:00AM shot gun start just across the Columbia River bar with a required check-in time by 5:00PM. The fun continues Saturday evening with a huge BBQ, auction, and the final results of the weekends’ activities. August 1-2

Jake’s 75th Birthday

The 8th Annual Jake the Alligator Man Celebration kicks off with his annual Bachelor Party and Burlesque show Friday, August 1. Doors open at 6PM at the Elks in downtown Long Beach, this is a show for the 21 and older crowd. There is a $10 cover and dinner and drinks will be available for purchase. Expect to have a great time and enjoy the live music and entertainment to the theme of Fiesta! Enjoy Jake’s Birthday Celebration on Saturday August 2. All ages are invited to celebrate Jake with the annual Car Show kicking off the days festivities at 11AM in downtown LongBeach. There will be many live bans and performances through out the day, a police escorted Birthday Cake Parade, and of course the annual Bride of Jake Pinup Contest! August 1-2

Race Against Violence 5k

Hit the sand running! Enjoy a beautiful 5k walk or run on our beautiful hard packed, white sand beaches for the annual Domestic Violence Awareness Project’s Race Against Violence. The race begins on Saturday, August 2 at 10AM on the Bolstad Beach Approach in Long Beach. Runners will have a chance to win one of four trophies for both male and female finishers. The Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco is proud to announce the opening of their latest show “We’re Still Here – The Survival of Washington Indians.” Come learn the fascinating and continuing story of Native American people in Washington. Rare images and colorful artifacts will tell the compelling history and personal stories. An installation of paintings, drawings, and carvings will also be on display that draws upon long, local history of the Chinook Tribe and their important presence within our community.  Through September 28
