Pack your camera, sunglasses, a good pair of walking shoes, and plenty of cash for the “World’s Longest Beach Garage Sale”
Get ready to shop until you drop! The World’s Longest Garage Sale will keep you busy all weekend. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure! Make your way through the hundreds of garage sales all along the Peninsula as this is a local tradition for our residents and many of our local non-profit organizations. This event gives a whole new meaning to the word Beachcombing. You never know what you might find. Keep an eye out for some unique trinkets and some awesome treasures!
For more than twenty years, thousands of visitors have flocked to the Peninsula over Memorial Day Weekend for its 28-Mile, fun-filled yard sale. It’s impossible to keep track of how many shoppers and vendors that participate, but it’s grown to be an outrageously fun event with steals and deals around every corner.
You’ll find locals and part-timers selling stuff they’ve accumulated throughout the years, non-profit organizations who have gathered from their flocks as well as a few professional dealers and vendors.
Pick up the latest edition of the Chinook Observer for a listing of Memorial Day Weekend Garage Sales to get you started. The key is to be on the lookout for signs, balloons, and way-finders directing you to the next deal. There is no comprehensive list of all the sales.
Be prepared to discover some neat places, interesting people, and quaint stops. Have some fun and create your own scavenger hunt! Some attendees engage in listed treasure hunts, photo scavenger hunts, and other fun activities that have nothing to do with actually shopping. The possibilities and deals are nearly endless! Discovery awaits!
