Oregon Tuna Classic: This year’s Oregon Tuna Classic will feature two full days of fishing! Fishing begins at 7:30AM on Friday, July 26, with a required check-in time by 6:00PM. Friday night there will be a mandatory 7:00 PM Captains meeting in the big tent located in the north parking lot at the Port of Ilwaco. Saturday starts early with a 6:00AM shotgun start just across the Columbia River bar with a required check-in time by 5:00PM. The fun continues Saturday evening with a huge BBQ, auction, and the final results of the weekend activities. There will also be a Photo Scavenger Hunt for OTC participant family members.
Salmon Fishing is HOT! Local Charter Fishing companies are reporting great news for Salmon fishing! Boats are limiting out early! Silvers are reported being an average of 6-8 lbs and Kings weighing in at 15 lbs and up! The ocean has supplied nice calm waters and beautiful skies, making this salmon season one to remember! Salmon fishing in the Columbia River opens August 1. Be sure to enter the Salmon Derby for your chance to win some great prizes!
68th Annual NPRA Sanctioned Rodeo: The Peninsula Saddle Club and Brim’s Farm and Garden are hosting the 68th Annual Long Beach Rodeo at 6407 Sandridge Road in Long Beach. Events start on Friday evening at 6:30PM, with a rodeo parade through downtown Long Beach. Enjoy a delicious Cowboy Breakfast at the rodeo grounds on both Saturday and Sunday from 7AM-11AM. The rodeo starts at 1PM on Saturday and Sunday. There will be drill team performances, a beer garden, vendors, concessions stands and more. Admission is $10 for adults; $9 for seniors; and children 6 to 12 will be admitted for $5. Parking is free. There is a discount for pre-sale tickets available at any Peninsula Pharmacy.
Waikiki Beach Concert Series VIII: Experience music from the shore of Waikiki Beach at Cape Disappointment State Park twice a month in July and Aug. The annual concert series returns to the Confluence Project Amphitheater, featuring Americana, blues, rock, R&B, folk, bluegrass, country and world music. All performances begin at 7PM. Concerts are free but a Discovery Pass is required for your vehicle. Remaining performances are scheduled as follows:
July 27 – The Resolectrics (americana, rock, classic R&B, folk)
Aug. 10 – Sugarcane (bluegrass, blues, funk, Caribbean)
Aug. 24 – The Ben Rice Band (rockabilly, swamp rock, country)
SummerFest: The festivities continue on the weekends throughout the summer in downtown Long Beach with free family friendly activities and horse-drawn wagon rides. It runs Noon to 5PM on Saturday and 11AM to 4PM on Sunday. This weekend will feature the talents of KO KO JO Band a rock band, on Saturday from 1PM-4PM and again on Sunday from 11AM-2PM at the Veterans Field Stage in downtown Long Beach.
